Designed to help participants connect with their unique body flow, this class combines improvisational tasks and structured exercises to build comfort, expand dance vocabulary, and respond instinctively to music. Explore three distinct cultures and their means of expression through dance by analyzing traditional folk dance styles and corresponding spirit, namely those of the Ukrainian, Romani, and Russian peoples. This goal is not limited to just learning choreography, but learning the nuance of partnering within each respective style. Participants will gain skills that can be applied to other folk dances and recognize patterns consistent throughout all folk dances worldwide.
